"Cared for by incredible, professional and skilled people"

About: Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Labour suite Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73) / Maternity care (Ward 72)

(as the patient),

I have been meaning to write this for some time but I have been still dealing with the emotional aftermath of the birth of my daughter. Now that I have i would like to send my thanks and appreciation to the staff at the princess royal maternity. In particular Dr Owen, Dr Gebril, Dr Guille, Kirsty, Barbara and Paula who were all involved in my care at various points.

I had a long induction, a long labour, an assisted delivery, and a post partum haemorrhage. All of these things were difficult emotionally for me but I felt throughout that I was being cared for by incredible, professional and skilled people and I am eternally grateful to them all.

Giving birth in a pandemic can be scary but I felt reassured and looked after throughout and even though it has all taken me some time to process I know that I had the best care possible at this vulnerable time.

Dear Jenniferb,

Thank-you so much for taking the time to respond through care opinion and for providing such lovely feedback for the obstetric and labour ward team.

I am sorry to read that you experienced such a long labour which resulted in an assisted delivery and haemorrhage however the obstetricians and midwives alike will be so pleased to learn that their exceptional care and support through this emotionally challenging time will have such a lasting impact. I will of course be delighted to share this with them.

I hope you and your daughter have now recovered and you are enjoying this special time together. The Covid pandemic has provided fresh challenges for new families transitioning to parenthood and I am so glad we were able to support and reassure you through the birth of your baby girl,

Kind regards,

Vicki Mazzoni,

Lead Midwife,

PRM
