"My treatment has been absolutely brilliant"

About: Cancer Services / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

My treatment here in Radiotherapy has been absolutely brilliant. I was petrified when I first came but the Reception staff put me at ease straight away. They seem to know everybody by their first name, which is really good. I think if they took Jacqui, Karen and Bob off reception the system would fall down!

I cannot think of anything that could be improved. We all have different types of cancer and are on different numbers of sessions, but it is nice to meet up with the same people each day. My appointment schedule has been pretty good - more or less the same time every day.

Car parking is horrendous. There are people here who come in one to one and a half hours before their appointment time just to get a car parking space. A solution might be to take the kerb away from the road leading from the Princess Alexandra Centre to A&E on the left - there would be room there for car parking spaces. Also the space on the bank going past the Maggi Centre between the road and the Maggi’s could be used for car parking.

Another idea would be to give patients a parking badge which could be issued with the appointments schedule and this would avoid misuse of the car park.

The Maggi Centre is absolutely brilliant too - I can park there if necessary, have a coffee and get any information I might need.
