"A fantastic service"

About: Fife Community Services / Rapid Cancer Diagnostic Service (RCDS)

(as the patient),

My GP told me she was arranging to have me scanned. I was in fact referred to the RCDS and received a call almost immediately. I had not realised where I was being referred and I was in shock when told.

The member of the team quickly calmed me and went out their way to be as helpful, reassuring, and informative as possible.

Unfortunately due to a broken scanner it took a few more days for my diagnosis.  However, it was all good news for me which was as huge relief.

I had my results within 36 hours of being scanned. This is a fantastic service and hugely alleviates long waiting times for results etc.   Thank you all so much.

Dear augustkk98,

My name is Murdina Macdonald. I am the professional lead nurse for RCDS. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience so thoughtfully. I am very glad to hear that your outcome was positive, and that the service you received helped to provide both reassurance and timely information during what must have been a very anxious time.

Your words highlight something important: that how people are treated with dignity, attentiveness, and clear communication can be as vital to their wellbeing as the clinical care itself. It is heartening to know that the team were able to offer you not only practical help, but also a sense of calm and respect at a critical moment.

We know that speed, clarity, and kindness are not luxuries in healthcare they are essentials. They make a real difference, particularly in times of vulnerability.

Thank you again for your kind feedback. It will be shared with the team, and will encourage us all to continue striving for services that uphold both excellence and equity for every person who needs care.

Warm Wishes

Murdina

Hi augustkk98,

Thank you for your kind words. You are absolutely right: in a system where pressures are high and time is short, words of thanks are sometimes overlooked. But they matter more than we realise.
It’s a privilege to care for people and to do so with compassion, clarity, and dignity. When that’s noticed, it means a great deal.

Wishing you all the best in the future

Warm Wishes

Murdina
