"Continued Use of Incorrect Diagnosis After Formal Change"

About: Dr Gray's Hospital / Pluscarden Clinic

(as a service user),

I am under the care of Moray mental health services. In November 2024, my diagnosis was formally updated to Complex PTSD (CPTSD), correcting a previous misdiagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Despite this change being clearly recorded by my GP and supported by my clinical psychologist, I have found that BPD continues to be referenced in communications and reports. This ongoing misrepresentation is deeply distressing, stigmatizing, and potentially harmful to my care.

It is concerning that four months after the diagnostic correction, the outdated diagnosis is still being actively used. This undermines my access to appropriate, trauma-informed care and perpetuates inaccurate assumptions about my needs.

I feel that this shows a lack of respect for my current diagnosis, my experiences, and my right to accurate medical records. I am sharing my experience in the hope that services can take this issue seriously and make necessary improvements for myself and others that find themselves in the same boat.
