"Rude staff"

About: South West Acute Hospital / Radiology

(as a service user),

There was 2 staff members present. I am totally bewildered with the attitude one staff member had towards me. They were so rude & didn't appear to be properly trained.

This staff member seemed to have a bitter attitude, they didn’t even offer to help me off the bed, knowing I have health problems. This person was so unprofessional in their duties. My friend entered millimetres into the room to aid me because this staff member offered no assistance, my friend shouldn’t have had to enter, it was the staff member's job to do this! Would they have preferred if I fell to the ground? They then started using unprofessional language because my friend entered to aid me. At the same time there was no patient confidentiality on their behalf because the door to the scanner room was left open while i was getting out of the scanner. Bearing in mind, there was another patient outside waiting to enter after me.

Exiting the building, they didn’t even say goodbye to us. They didn’t even state to my friend she couldn’t enter the scanner room, anybody could have walked in on as they left the door wide open! Did they not realise this? Unprofessional manner.

All my praise goes to the WHSCT radiographer who kept talking to me & doing their job so well. I didn’t get their name but thank you! If only there was more people like the trained radiographers in the white WHSCT uniform.

I left the hospital in total frustration.

Dear pluto12, thank you for using Care Opinion to tell us about your experience within the Radiology Department. I am sorry to hear that this experience fell short of the standard we aim for all of our patients. I will share this story with staff and remind them of the importance of good communication and treating everyone with dignity and respect. I would like to look into this matter further, if you would like to get in touch directly with the Radiology Department at SWAH (02866382602) and leave your contact and the appointment details.
