"An unnecessary stressful day that could have been prevented"

My surgery was scheduled for yesterday in Grantham.

Monday I got a phone call saying my surgery had been cancelled and moved to Lincoln. I arrived at Lincoln at 7:30 a.m having fasted since 5pm Sunday to be told to sit in the waiting room, an hour passed and no one had come to me so I went to the reception.

I wasn't even on the list there for surgery, I was then told I was on the list but my notes hadn't been sent from Grantham so surgery couldn't go ahead. I said they need to do everything possible to get it done that day as I had waited 18 months.

They came back to me and said they would do the surgery and I'd be third down. So I waited and 4 hours later was collected to go down to theatre. I got there and the receptionist informed me the small amount of notes they had made up including the consent form and anaesthetist paperwork was blank and I couldn't go down until that was sorted.

An hour went by still sat in forward waiting when the surgeon finally came down and went through the paperwork. I was then taken to theatre despite my notes not being in the hospital.

Overall a very unnecessary stressful day that could have been prevented and saved me a lot of upset and anxiety.

I have crippling anxiety and this really has unsettled me knowing I have further surgeries in the new year.
