"I felt discriminated against"

About: Horizon Healthcare Parkfields Surgery Royal Derby Hospital

(as the patient),

I was told by an NHS doctor not to go private, which delayed my care for two whole years. After that, the GP started altering the details of my prescription from the specialist, meaning I was getting less medication than I was prescribe and entitled to. The GP also mocked another patient's decision around healthcare in enough information that I could identify the person.

I moved to a different surgery and explained my issues with them. A year later the new GP surgery tried to remove my prescription entirely with no medical reason for doing so.

I had to complain over months to get my healthcare reinstated, and the GP said I had been borderline bullying them. All for asking them to provide my medical care, as prescribed.

Overall, I believe the NHS has a huge problem with how its GPs refuse to treat certain patients.

In my experience, discrimination runs thick throughout the NHS and I believe that minorities are often best paying out of pocket for care when the National Health Service refuses to treat them appropriately.

Update posted by Nahhhhh (the patient)

The response from horizon was not at all like what I experienced.

The horizon doctor went against specialist advice and practiced areas of healthcare that they are not an expert in, while disregarding the specialists involved in my healthcare.

Overall, I think the response is utterly misleading when compared to how Horizon operates.
