"The entire system was so efficient"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Breast care and breast surgery

(as the patient),

I was referred by my GP for a breast investigation. Within one week I was given an appointment at General Outpatients, RD&E and told to allow up to 4 hours for my visit. I was seen on-time and thoroughly examined by a lovely doctor. I was then sent for a mammogram.

It was a bit daunting waiting in the waiting area but the staff were lovely and everyone there was for the same reason, so all a bit nervous. Again, such a lovely lady carrying out the mammogram. Very professional and efficient.

From there my mammogram result was analysed and I was sent for a further ultrasound and given my results straight away by a doctor. I cannot tell you how pleased I was with the speed at which I was seen, the hospital environment was very clean and all staff encountered were very personable. The entire system was so efficient, moving from one set of tests to another and then being given the results immediately. All delivered within an hour and a half. Amazing. I am very grateful for their service.

Dear Willow9,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I am so pleased to hear that this was positive for you. We appreciate how difficult these appointments can be and I am so pleased that everyone approached you with such sensitivity and compassion.

I am pleased that you found the service to be efficient, and that you were able to receive your results at the same time - all good news I trust.

I will be sure to share your experience with those working within the Breast team, and to reassure them that what they strive to do, is working.

Thank you again.

Best wishes

Suzie Avery,

Lead Breast Clinical Nurse Specialist.
