"I felt respected, valued and involved in my childs care"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Dietetics

(as a parent/guardian),

I contacted the paediatric dietetics service for advice for my child following a new prescription from the GP. The GP had changed my childs prescription formula without discussion and after looking up the GGC formulary online I believed this was an error by the GP.

During the call I expressed my concerns. The dietician took the time to listen to me and I felt respected, valued and involved in my childs care. Navigating life with a child who has allergies is extremely challenging and I truly feel the dietician took the time to listen, understand and empathise. Following this call, the dietician confirmed the new prescription was incorrect and they followed this up with the GP.

Within 24 hours my child had a new prescription for the correct formula.

I can't thank the dietician enough for the person centred approach you took and for the compassion and empathy you showed me. I'm sorry I never got your name, but I hope this reaches you.

Your truly made a difference to my childs care.

Thankyou rainsb76 for taking the time to write on care opinion. I am pleased to read the allergy dietitians were able to help you and your child's prescription to support their nutritional care. I will ensure your story is shared with the dietitian at RHC and the wider team at RHC dietetics. Once again thankyou for taking the time to share your story.
