I was rushed to Queen Square on blues and twos and admitted for several days it was touch and go at the start. I was stabilised and was moved to the Royal free Pond Street after a few more days. I was taken to the NRC for rehab. This was the second time I was admitted to the NRC once in 2020 and this time March 2025 I had fond memories of the NRC.
The thing about the NRC are the amazing people from the therapist, including physios OT’s, speech, psychologists and HCA’s to the nurses to the sisters to the doctors this rehab unit is one of the finest. Having lost the use of my left-hand side in 2020 and right hand side in 2025 they got me back on my feet both times
It is run like a hospital, but without the wards with many people in it, you have your own room which is a huge bonus to your mental health
They lay the foundations for getting you home to improve in your own environment when I’m on my feet again I will return to visit walking!
Being an ex chef, I know my food and the food here verges on the inedible it’s truly awful, unbalanced menus carb with carb - mashed potato with pasta for instance it’s not nutritious at all you can of course get a takeaway which I did on occasions, which are all on the usual delivery apps. There is no excuse for bad food in this day and age doesn’t anyone report the wastage?
Dictated on Apple iPhone so forgive me for the grammatical and spelling mistakes
