"Unpleasant comment"

My father went in to the heart department at Boston Pilgrim Hospital and he has just told me that one of the reasons he feels bad about himself is the clinician made a comment that the reason he had lots wrong with him is because he has lived too long.

Absolutely disgusting.

You don't tell a man with heart failure he is ill because he has lived too long. Unfortunately I can't officially complain because we don't know a name and my father hasn't kept any paperwork. 

But still it wasn't a joke, and my father feels bad about it - when it's the individual who said it who should feel bad about it.

It may seem small to some people but to a older depressed gentleman who is vulnerable, it's a big thing.
