"Friendly helpful staff attended me immediately on arrival"

About: Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre / Minor Injuries

(as the patient),

Infected tick bite. Felt tired and itchy where bitten.

Unable to remove tick as embedded too deeply in my groin area.

Visited Whitehills H & C Centre without an appointment early on a Saturday.

Friendly helpful staff attended me immediately on arrival.

With short delay shown into surgery where I received excellent treatment.

The embedded tick was fully removed with care as was difficult being so deep in.

Provided with advice on how to deal with wound and given anti biotics in event of continued infection.

This immediate service was vital as I departed for holiday abroad the night after receiving help

Thank you to all the staff for their work.

Dear Spanvis

Thank you for taking the time to complete a Care Opinion about your recent visit to the Minor Injuries Unit at Whitehills Health & Community Centre.

I am sorry to hear you had a tick embedded deeply in your groin area but delighted you were seen and treated by friendly and helpful staff.

Scottish government recently introduced a pathway to ensure that patients are seen in the right place by the right person. We now ask all patients who have a minor injury, that they are unable to deal with themselves, to call NHS 24 in the first instance. This makes sure that you are given an appointment to attend at a time that suits you rather than prolonged waits in what can sometimes be an overcrowded waiting room. It also means that you will most likely be seen by the right person the first time which is the care we want for everyone

I am pleased the tick was removed fully and you were given appropriate advice on how to deal with the wound. Nursing staff in the minor injuries service know how important it is for patients to be given advice on how to care for their injury.

Thank you for your kind words, I will ensure the team in Minor Injuries are made aware of your kind comments and hope your recovering well.

Best wishes

Rhianne Roberts
