"Post Stroke Care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Elderly Medicine (Wards 51, 52, 54,55, 57, 8a & 2a)

(as a relative),

My relative received outstanding care from the entire team.

She arrived in the unit with only very small movement and had spoken only a few whispered words in the previous 10 days after her stoke.

The team worked diligently to to get her to the point of discharge, where she could talk, walk with zimmer and was able to communicate again with her family. We all have the feel she is back in the family thanks to the entire team's care.

The team could become even stronger if it was not so short staffed (especially nursing at weekends). Another suggestion is to create a better liaison between departments (physio, OT) to for example not all come at the same time and plan rest time between sessions for the patients.

Thank you for your feedback regarding the care your relative received during her stay in the unit.

We are pleased to hear that she experienced significant improvements in her condition, including regaining speech, mobility, and the ability to reconnect with her family. It is encouraging to know that the efforts of the multidisciplinary team contributed positively to her recovery.

We also appreciate your observations regarding staffing levels, particularly at weekends, as well as your suggestion to improve coordination between departments such as physiotherapy and occupational therapy. Feedback like yours is valuable as it helps us to identify areas where service delivery can be strengthened.

Your comments will be shared with the appropriate teams for consideration as we continue working to provide the best possible care for all patients.
