Whilst having a sight test at a local opticians, it was discovered that I had cataracts in both eyes. I was referred to the Eye Centre, NGH, during which time they confirmed that this was correct and required treatment.
As you can imagine, I was somewhat concerned, however, I can honestly say that upon meeting various members of staff, their kindness and understanding certainly put you at ease. Even the additional problem of my neck in a fixed position, this due to an ACDF spinal op I had some years ago, didn't prevent them from assisting me, as they gave up time to make sure that I was in a comfortable position.
Whilst each eye op was done on different dates, both took approx over 20 minutes each. The team attending were amazing, they made you feel totally relaxed, and apart from a bright light, you're not too aware of anything, equally feel very little.
Because of their help, the cataracts were removed and lens replaced, this changing my sight from a prescription of minus 7 to a minus 2. Whilst I'm presently sorting out some low prescription glasses, e.g. work related if required, I'm pleased to say that I no longer wear a general pair for every day use.
Therefore, should it happen that anyone reading this is on the same path and will have various concerns, I honestly do understand. However, I can confirm that you'll have the pleasure of receiving care and treatment from a wonderful team at the Eye Centre. Thank you for taking time to read this.
"A wonderful team"
