"My journey"

About: The Wells Road Centre

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Since I've been in services since I was young its been tricky, obviously trying my hardest to do what I need to do day to day. Being under a section changes your life and you don't feel you will get back into the community, because you get paranoid and everyone is against you and you don't fell like you're getting the help.

Day to day I take one step at a time and I am interacting with my doctors and therapists. I taken more interesting working with the doctor and MDT and since then I've been working in the coffee bar, helping people with the till and sorting stock and serving in the patient shop. I'm doing a lot with impact at the minute and courses with them and went to the 100th anniversary conference.

I interact more with the Modern Matron's and my team. I've been talking about my life story and presenting that at various forums, it's made me really happy that I have been able to talk to people about 'my life' and that has made me realise that hospitals aren't they're here to make me better.

Hi Kevmr49, Thanks for sharing your story on Care Opinion and all the involvement work that you do. You are an inspiration to others. It is really encouraging for staff to hear how much you have progressed. The bravery you have shown in talking about your journey in front of people from lots of different services is something to be proud of.

It's good to hear that hospitals have helped you, but I think your story shows also how hard you have worked.
