"No understanding of disability care"

About: Leeds General Infirmary / Paediatrics

(as a service user),

I have an hearing impairment. I was under the care of LGI children's services. The nurses and doctors treated me as if I was stupid and lacking in normal intelligence. This has led to me developing a phobia of hospitals. There was no understanding of disability care in Leeds. Thankfully I am now with a better service.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us.

I am very sorry to read that you have had such distressing times whilst in our care. The level of service that you have described is certainly not what we wish to offer.

It would be useful for our services and for future patients if you could discuss the matters you have raised further with our Trust’s Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS). This would also allow us look into the matters you have raised more thoroughly.

Please call our Patient Advise and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0113 206 6261 or alternatively email patientexperience.leedsth@nhs.net
