"The staff were exceptional"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Intensive Care Unit University Hospital Hairmyres / Medical/Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit

(as the patient),

My partner called an ambulance which arrived within 5 minutes . The staff were very calming, caring and professional.

We arrived at A&E, we were seen immediately and staff were amazing. They set about diagnosing what was wrong with me and made sure my partner was reassured. I was taken for a CT scan and advised what my diagnosis was. My only problem is that neither my partner or I remember individual names of staff as 1 nurse in particular was outstanding.

I was then admitted to HDU Ward 1. The treatment I received from Dr McMillan and his staff was excellent. The staff which keep Ward 1 functioning each day were exceptional, too many to name individually. I was on Ward 1 for 18 days and truly felt that I received the best care possible. Nothing was too much for the staff.

I have also attended SACU where yet again I had a very positive experience. Everyone was professional and caring.

I am so thankful to all staff for helping me when I so desperately needed them.

Dear Airbw63,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about what happened to you and I do hope that you are feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff provide and the positive impact that this has had on you.

If you wish I can pass on the feedback to the crews directly. To do so we would need to know the date, time and address that the Ambulance attended and your name. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story and share it with the crew.

I wish you all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Alan

Dear airbw63

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It sounds like you have been very unwell and I hope that you are now recovering well. Your kind words will be shared with all the teams as staff will appreciate your comments on the care that you received. Thank you again.

I am pleased to read that all staff were professional and caring. It is so important that both yourself and your partner were reassured as sudden illness can be both physically and emotionally overwhelming.

I hope that your care continues to be positive and that you are feeling better each day.

Kind regards

Lise
